As a sign in the Derby student section stated, “‘Rivalry’ means you actually have to beat Derby in something…”

Derby’s 75-68 win at Campus on Friday night was very different from when the Panthers and Colts played in the fourth week of the season.

Derby scored the same in both games, 75, but it was easier this time around than the one-point win in December.

The game started out slow for Campus, which didn’t score until the 5:58 mark of the first quarter.

At halftime the Panthers were up 34-14, continuing to lead by 20 for most of the game and as much as 23 in the third quarter.

Campus started making a lot more three-pointers compared to the beginning of the game, shrinking the lead.

The Panthers were looking at a 10-point win before one of those three-pointers by the Colts made it 75-68.

The Colts ultimately scored more points in the second half with 54, compared to the Panthers’ 41, but the late start in the first half held them back.

The Panthers have a two-game win streak going into the last week of the regular season.

The Panthers (13-5) host the Hutchinson Salthawks (4-13) on Tuesday.
