The Derby High School girls soccer team sold T-shirts on Tuesday as part of its effort to raise funds for the Derby Food Bank.

Several of the players’ moms helped their daughters sell the shirts — including sophomore Heather Mills’ mom, Diane.

“We are selling T-shirts for the benefit game tonight. Proceeds going to the Derby Food Bank,” Diane Mills said.

Last year the girls soccer team sold shirts to raise money for Derby citizen Amy Curtis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“By raising money for the Food Bank, I feel like it helps more people, rather than just one person,” sophomore defender Kendal Meyer said.

Varsity plays at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Panther Stadium against Salina South. Junior varsity plays at 5 p.m.

“I’m super excited. I think it is going to a great cause, and it’s fun to give back to the community,” junior Marah Franke said.
